Rock Outcrops

Hey Everyone!

My name is Nathan and I am a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign doing research on the Quaternary glacial deposits of Illinois. I also have an interest in the bedrock geology of the midwest.

I had the idea for a site like this when I was planning a short trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with the hope of finding native copper bearing outcrops. I thought to myself it would be nice if there was a site where I could find directions to or coordinates for cool outcrops. Well, this is what we have come up with so far. Rock Outcrops is currently in its infancy and needs your help to properly mature. Please send in your outcrops so we can add them to our database for others to enjoy. It makes no difference if your outcrop is good for mineral collecting, fossil collecting, seeing interesting stratigraphic relationships, or seeing cool sedimentary features; we welcome all submissions. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make this site better!
